Beiyuan cuisine was founded by Zou Dianbang,chairman of chamber of commerce,and some bureaucrat ladies in 1928 with a small scale and a little gardens feature.It just faced military and political circles,businessmen and literators and mainly managed food and dinner party.
The new scale was formed gradually by several times enlargement.In 1956 Zhu Guang,namely temporal Guangzhou major,brought forward enlargement and Mo Bozhi who was architectural master of Lingnan School designed it.Mr.Mo not onlyretained the former gardens style and local feature but also kept the old trees.On the other hand he adopted integrated cartilage layout and made the best of the architectural material collected from the public with the excellent artistic carving wood –the famous Manchuria window in order to enrich the local feature and retain the effect of fine fiment. Therefore it became one of the famous gardens cuisines, which took on lingnan gardens feature most.Liang Sicheng, the architectural master,was asked by a foreigner in a Guangzhou colloquia:”Mr.Liang,which design of the building you appreciate most?”Mr.Liang answered without hesitation:” Beiyuan cuisine.It in an excellent work with the dence local style by mixing the architecture and the environment of the gardens.
